Bobbi was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer in September 2008. She was determined to defeat this terrible disease and fought it hard. For those of us that know Bobbi well, you know that if anyone could win this fight, it was her. Bobbi was receiving her primary care at the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Tulsa, OK. Bobbi's battel was lost on May 02, 2009 at 0112 am. Her last few days were spent painless and in peace with her husband Jerry, cousin Sue(Tilton) Boss, and her brother Kevin. Throughout those last few days, many stories of family and friends were told across her bedside. I'm sure that we covered most of you. Although Bobbi was unable to respond verbally, it was very obvious by other responses that she was there with us and was smiling within.
I hope that none of you ever have to suffer from any form of cancer. If this terrible disease does make its way into your life, I highly recommend the CTCA in Tulsa. Besides the best cancer doctors, the support offered by all the staff to the patient and the family members is outstanding.

BOBBI AND I WERE VERY CLOSE DURING OUR ANESTHESIA TRAINING. SHE MADE ME LAUGH DURING THE TIME THAT WAS EXTREMELY STRESSFUL. WE BECAME THE BEST OF PALS, WE STUDIED, WE PARTIED WITH THE RESIDENTS AND WE MADE IT THROUGH OUR TRAINING. ALTHOUGH WE WERE SEPARATED BY DISTANCE, WHENEVER WE SPOKE, IT WAS AS IF NO TIME HAD PASSED AT ALL. SHE WILL ALWAYS HAVE A PLACE IN MY HEART AND MIND..FOREVER LOVE, FRANK..I WILL MISS HER DEARLY.

I'm so sorry to hear of this. I knew Bobbi when she was a student CRNA at Jersey Shore in Neptune, NJ. Shortly after she relocated to Florida, I contacted her and she made the time to stop by and see my hospitalized Aunt Marie, who appreciated someone who spoke "Jersey". Boobi was a wonderful person, and I have fond memories of our nights in the O.R.

I am so sad to see this news of Barbara's passing. My brother, Mike Spiegel, told me this morning. I have kown Barbara since the 70s and have many fun and funny memories. She will be truly missed. My prayers go out to you with love,

When Bobbi was first diagnosed, I like everyone else was in shocked denial. I shouted at her,
ReplyDelete“Don’t you want to go to Ireland? You always said we could all go to Ireland together?”
Bobbi said softly , I WANT to go everywhere. I felt better hearing that. We had so many fun trips together, Barcelona, ROME, Mexico. Even up to the last fishing trip,
she seemed so vibrant and alive, although we knew she was not very comfortable .
I’d like to believe that she is, like The Cosmic Flyer she so loved, out there flying everywhere,
always above the rest and with us wherever we go.
